There are 25 points for this module's homework. a.) [No autoquiz this week]
b.) 10 points for the written assignment, c.) 5 points for the discussion, d.)
3 points for the message to the instructor, and e.) [The paper topic and article is due next week and the 7 points for submitting
your paper topic and article will be awarded next week, but noted in this week's grade book.] [The MSDS project is worth 25 points and is a separate entry in the Grade Book. ]
b.) Written assignment. At the end of Submodule 5E is an introduction and assignment based on the article by Ames and Gold, CHEMICAL CARCINOGENESIS: TOO MANY RODENT CARCINOGENS. That will be a text assignment written in Word. Label the subject of the transmittal email: ENVE 652 HW 5
c.) For your discussion, go to the IARC list. Go to http://monographs.iarc.fr/ENG/Classification/index.php and read the definition of the "groups." Then overview the Excel file you downloaded in Module 5D. Note the many things that are in Group 1. Any surprises? For your discussion, mention if any items on the list were surprises. Are you exposed to any of them? Will you modify your lifestyle based on the list? Comment on at least two other submissions. First one up get a free ride.
d.) Write a message to the instructor with at least one question or comment on the material in Module 5. Extra credit for pointing out any typos or glitches in the material. Include that message in the written assignment described above.
e.) Transmit your paper topic in an email and attach the electronic copy of the article you want to base your paper upon. Label the subject of the email ENVE 652 Paper Topic. You get the full seven points for a topic and the article. I may reply with a suggestion that may cause you to change your topic or you may want to modify it later, after you do more research, that is not a problem. You get the seven points for a plausible topic and article.
