Homework.
There are 25 points for this module's homework. a.) 10 points for the auto-quiz you access through Blackboard, b.) 7 points for the assignment relating to MSDS, c.) 5 points for the discussion, and d.) 3 points for the message to the instructor.

a.) Access the quiz through Blackboard. A copy of the quiz is found here. Several questions on the quiz require you to look some things up that are not in the learning submodules directly.

b.) For the assignment relating to MSDS, see the page at the end of 4B. You'll combine this file with the message to the instructor, see d.) below. Be sure to label the homework file as we have discussed.

c.) For the discussion, go to the site http://www.grecobrothers.com/solvent-vapor-degreasers.html and read a little about the High Performance Vapor Degreaser, including how it works. These are designed to conserve solvent vapors and recycle them efficiently. I'm not familiar with this brand, but it looks OK. The solvents used are "environmentally friendly...HFE, HFC, and HCFC. (The contaminated sludge is usually not so friendly.) For the discussion, work as a team and do some research about HFE, HFC, and HCFC. Then assume that you are the environmental compliance and safety officer for a firm that has a high performance degreaser that is kept in small room in the basement. The room has an exhaust fan, and a gap under the door that permits make-up air. Since no solvent is supposed to escape from the degreaser, and the fan makes noise, workers in the main room sometimes switch the fan off, even though you have told them not to turn it off. Discuss what kinds of monitoring are appropriate for the room that has the degreaser and the workers who enter it to place the parts in the degreaser.

d.) Message to the Instructor. Mention one thing you found interesting or something you did not know before, and one thing you found foggy or incomplete. Extra credit for pointing out typo's or glitches in the material to the instructor.
