Module 10

Information from Course Outline
Module 10, Closes Monday, November 11
Waste Treatment, Chapter 12 (Through page 268, only).

Introduction
This module discusses hazardous waste treatment options and processes. It divides the material into Biological, Chemical, Physical, and Thermal treatment process. (Landfilling will be discussed next week.) The book's author has the same problem I do in presenting the material. Each of the main sections of the chapter and each of my slide shows represent a three-credit graduate course in environmental engineering - so the depth must be very limited. I believe you can all master some of the basic concepts and this is best done by reviewing those concepts, albeit at a superficial level, then picking apart some of the myriad treatment technologies and seeing how those concepts influence the process.

Homework.
There are 25 points for this module's homework. a.) 10 points for the auto-quiz you access through Blackboard, b.) 13 points for your treatment report homework and. c.) 2 points points for the message to the instructor

a.) Access the quiz through Blackboard. A copy of the quiz is found here. Several questions on the quiz require you to look some things up that are not in the learning submodules directly, and may ask for information from earlier module's closure modules.

b.) See the page with the Module_10_Homework.

c.) Message to the Instructor. Mention one thing you found interesting or something you did not know before, and one thing you found foggy or incomplete. Extra credit for pointing out typo's or glitches in the material to the instructor. This week, the message to the instructor is all you will send. You can do it in the text of an email. (The rest of the assignment will be posted in the group discussion.
