Module 1

Information from Course Outline
Module 1, Closes Monday, September 9
Introduction; Basic Hazard Concepts, Toxicology and Industrial Safety Concepts.

Introduction
We'll start with a some introduction to Blackboard and get you started on that. Then a very important item, getting to know each other. We take for granted that in classroom folks somehow get to know each other. For on-line classes, we have to make a special effort at first to communicate and get to know each other a little. Then we will overview some basic concepts, carefully defining some terms that we have used all our lives, but now have specialized technical meanings. There is a slide show that introduces some basic toxicology concepts. The slides did not reproduce well, but you will get the idea.

Q&A
In the instructional sub-modules, you will see links to "Q&A." These are questions from prior classes about the material in those sub-modules.  You should read them after you go through that sub-module.  You may find the answer to a question you had and they may help you take the quiz.  In general, those Q&As with 3 asterisks are important, and those with one or none less important. The 2013 Closure has all good comments.
