Learn a little of the major environmental laws and how toxicology is used in them.
Take note of the language in the laws that seems to mandate toxicology studies.
Learn the major difference in approaches: Guidance documents; no risk; low risk; feasibility and tradeoff approaches; carcinogen vs. non-carcinogen; rule of laws
Develop some understanding for the regulator's dilemma. Case study - pirate.

Lists

Become familiar with some of the major lists of toxic substances. Which pertain directly to human health effects (give a number) and which do not.
Be aware of the difference between workplace exposures and environment exposures.
